Alerts in your group chat

Five people paired to the bot means five phones buzzing for one thing. You can send an alert to your group chat instead. The bot posts there once.

The rule

A group gets the message instead of each person, never as well.

How it works

  1. Add the bot to your group chat on Telegram.
  2. Send /venue in that group and pick this venue.
  3. Open Telegram assistant in the left menu, find Send to the group instead, and tick what the group should get.

Now those alerts go to the room. Nobody gets a second copy on their own phone.

Good to know

  • Some alerts never go to a group. A message from your contact page, a booking request, and a guest asking for a person all hold a stranger’s name and phone number. A group is everyone who was ever added to it, so those always go to owners and managers one by one.
  • Email does not change. If you asked for an email, you still get it. A group chat is not an inbox.
  • Add everyone who needs the alert to the group. People not in the room stop getting that alert on their own phone. Their alert screen tells them, but only the group gets the message.
  • More than one group works. A kitchen group and a front group both get the message.
  • Groups are quiet from 11pm to 7am, by your venue’s clock. You cannot change those hours. Urgent alerts, like a new order, still come through.
  • A rush becomes one line. On a busy night the room gets the first alert, then one message saying how many more came in. See Alerts when it gets busy.
  • You need the bot in the group first. Until you send /venue there, everything goes to people one by one.
  • Only an owner or a manager can change this. It is one setting for the whole venue, not per person.
