Recipe categories

Every recipe sits in one group. The groups are yours, and you can change them at any time.

The rule

Recipe groups are for the kitchen. They are not the menu sections your guests see. You can keep a Stocks group with no dish on the menu at all.

How it works

  1. Open Settings → Recipe categories.
  2. A new venue starts empty. Press Add the standard set. You get eight groups: Doughs, Sauces, Stocks, Infusions, Pasta, Sides, Desserts and Finished Dishes.
  3. Press + Add category to make your own. Give it a name, an emoji and one short line of help. For example: Fermentations 🫙 — kimchi, pickles and koji. They sit for weeks.
  4. Press Edit to rename a group, or to hide it from your team.
  5. Press Delete to remove one. If recipes still use it, you choose what happens to them. You can move them to another group, or take the group off them.

Good to know

  • Only the owner or a manager can add, change or delete a group.
  • Each group is for food or for drink. You pick that when you make it.
  • A hidden group is not deleted. Your team just cannot choose it any more.
  • Each row shows how many recipes use that group, so you can see what is empty.
  • Pressing Add the standard set twice is safe. It only adds what is missing.
