Writing a training course

Staff learn in the gaps — before service, on the bus, waiting for a delivery. A course is four to six short lessons, each about a minute, each ending with a question.

The rule

Nothing reaches a single member of staff until you have read it and pressed Publish.

How it works

  1. Open Training → Courses and press New course.
  2. Give it a name, then choose what to build it from: A subject you choose, where you describe it the way you’d explain it to a new starter, or Your own menu, which uses your real dishes, drinks and allergens.
  3. Press Create course. Then press Write the lessons, and a first draft appears in a few seconds. Or press Write them yourself to write each lesson by hand.
  4. Read it. Open any lesson to change the words, fix a question, or move the correct answer. Before you publish, you can also Add a lesson, Add a question, or Delete lesson.
  5. Press Publish, then pick who has to do it under Who has to do this. A note at the top of the course tells you who gets it. If nobody gets it yet, the note says what is missing.

Good to know

  • This is the Staff training & courses service, and it needs your AI features on. If it isn’t there, it isn’t on your plan yet — ask us, or see Which features show in your menu.
  • Writing a course costs credits once. Sending it to staff costs nothing, however many people read it — the lessons are written once and stored.
  • Everyone gets the identical question, which is what makes two people’s scores comparable.
  • After publishing you can still fix wording, but not add or remove a question or change which answer is correct — results are already recorded against them. Archive and write a new course instead.
  • A course won’t publish if a lesson has no question. That’s deliberate: a lesson you can’t check is a lesson you can’t know landed.
  • Owners and managers can write courses. Shift leads can assign them without being able to edit.
  • A person gets a course only when all four are true: they are on Your team, they joined the bot on Telegram with their code, the course is published, and it is assigned to them or to their job. People who log in to this admin are not on Your team by themselves.
