Menu appearance — grid or swipeable cards

Your menu can look two ways. Grid shows every dish as a tile, and guests scroll down. Sliding cards gives each section one row your guests swipe sideways, with a bigger photo. A long menu becomes about half as long to scroll.

The rule: nothing changes until you save, and Reset to default always brings back the menu you have today.

How it works

  1. Go to Menu → Menu Look.
  2. Pick what your menu opens in: Grid or Sliding cards. Guests can still switch, using the button in the menu header.
  3. Set the photo shape. Tall suits plated dishes. Wide suits sharing boards. Under it, pick Same shape or Natural shape.
  4. In the grid, set Items per row on a phone: 1, 2 or 3. With 1, each dish is a big card and guests scroll down. With sliding cards, set Card width instead.
  5. Set Cards before “See all” — how many dishes a section shows before the rest go behind a link.
  6. Pick the menu width: Boxed, Wide or Full.
  7. Turn Show ingredients on cards on if you want them.
  8. Watch the preview on the right. It is your real menu.
  9. Save.

Good to know

  • Cards need photos. If fewer than about a third of your dishes have one, guests do not get the card view. The panel tells you your number, and the view turns on by itself once enough dishes have photos.
  • Guests see a short hint the first time. An orange arrow points at the view button, and the menu shows the other view for a moment. Each phone sees it one time only.
  • Show dish counts puts the number of dishes beside each section name.
  • Menu width changes computers and tablets only. On a phone your menu is always full width, so the preview here does not change. Full works best when your dishes have photos.
  • Show ingredients on cards puts a small line under each dish name. A long line scrolls on its own. Add the words on a dish first, in Ingredients.
  • A computer shows more in each row than a phone. With 1 per row, a computer shows 2 or 3.
  • Photo shape and the See all cap change both views.
  • Natural shape shows each photo whole, in its own shape. A wide photo stays wide. A square photo stays square. Nothing is cut. Cards can have different heights. Same shape is how it was before: every photo takes one shape, and some are cut at the edges.
  • Only owners can change these, and only on the photo menu and website looks.
  • The preview needs your site published. What you pick before that applies the moment it goes live.
