Getting more out of your photos
Open any section with a photo in it and you get three things: a description worth points on your search score, a way to rework the picture, and — under the section list — a report on what your photos cost a visitor on a weak signal.
How it works
Describe the photo. Every photo should have a sentence saying what’s in it. It’s what a blind visitor is read, and what a search engine uses to understand the picture — worth 15 points on your search score. Tap Write it from the photo and it’s written for you by looking at the picture. Edit it, then Save.
Rework it. Restyle this photo takes the picture you already have and gives it website lighting, keeping your real room and your real food. If you have nothing to work from, describe what you want in a line and tap Make it. Either way you see the result first and choose whether to use it — and you still press Save.
Check the weight. How fast your photos load lists every picture on the page with how long it takes on a phone with a weak signal. Anything slow gets a Make it smaller button that re-saves it at the size it’s actually shown at. Leave the page open while it runs.
Good to know
- Nothing is applied until you press Save — a new photo or description is a draft like anything you type.
- Describing, restyling and generating each cost credits, and the price is on the button before you tap.
- If a made-up photo comes back with people in it, you’ll get a warning naming what was spotted. It’s your call — but if they’re your team or your guests, make sure they’re happy to be on your website.
- Once a description exists, translating the page carries it into your other languages.
- If the picture is a drawing, the description says so. A blind visitor then knows it is not a photo.
