Recipe R&D — the inspiration inbox
Ideas arrive in a group chat, in a screenshot, in a note after service. Half of them are forgotten. This is where they go instead.
The rule
The inbox is where ideas are looked at. It is not where dishes reach your menu. Nothing goes on the menu without you.
Three ways to start
Press + Add candidate.
- From a video — paste a link from YouTube, Instagram or TikTok. We listen to what the chef says and read the post text. You get the ingredients, the amounts, and the steps.
- From a note — type the idea. Be clear. “Carbonara with smoked tuna belly instead of guanciale, finished with bottarga” gives the AI much more than “carbonara idea”.
- From scratch — a title and a category, no link. For an idea that started in your own kitchen.
Pick a category as you add it. Then the pasta team sees pasta and the bar sees cocktails.
Watch the video from any step
This works on YouTube videos.
Each step shows the time it happens, like ▶ 4:12. Press it and the video jumps to that moment. You see the chef do that exact step.
Some steps show — instead. That step was talked about but not shown, so there is no moment to jump to.
What happens next
The card says Ingesting… for about half a minute. You can walk away. It finishes on its own.
You then pick the pantry item for each ingredient yourself, on the dish page.
From the dish page you can:
- Mark reviewed — you saw it. It leaves the Inbox tab.
- Discard — not for you. It stays in Discarded, so you can show you looked at it.
- Promote to recipe — the real work starts. You get a draft recipe with everything filled in.
Good to know
- We only read videos. If the recipe is on a web page, copy the text and use From a note.
- We only write down what the chef said. If the chef never says how many it serves, that box stays empty. We do not guess.
- Amounts come out as numbers when the chef gives one. “Half a cup” becomes 0.5. A pinch stays a pinch, in words.
- Instagram and TikTok have no step times. We hear the words but not when they were said.
- If a card could not read its video, open it and press ↻ Refresh from transcript. It nearly always works the second time.
- Promoted dishes keep a link back to the video. A year later you still know where the dish came from.
