Chat assistants — a team of specialists, not one model
A general-purpose AI handles general questions fine. Ask “should I rename the carbonara?” and it drifts — no strong opinion about menu psychology, so it tries to be useful and ends up vague.
The rule
The team is opt-in. Off by default, on with one toggle, off again whenever you like. When it’s on the chat tells you who’s answering. When it’s off it’s exactly the assistant it always was.
The six specialists
- Generalist — the catch-all, with every tool the others have between them. Always on, because it’s the fallback.
- Menu Strategist — pricing, positioning, what to feature or rename. Can change prices. “The lasagne hasn’t sold in three weeks.”
- Recipe R&D Coach — dish ideas and the inspiration inbox. Knows what you’ve drafted and discarded.
- Marketing Voice — captions and descriptions in your house voice, grounded in your recent posts. No write tools.
- Growth Strategist — competitors, engagement, review sentiment. Read-only; pair it with the Marketing Voice to act.
- Analytics Analyst — sales, trends, dayparts, average ticket. Read-only. “Are we busier at lunch or dinner?”
A small coordinator reads each message and routes it. When it can’t decide it falls back to the Generalist or asks a clarifying question.
Turning it on
Super Admin → AI Settings → Chat Agents, flip Multi-agent mode. From there you can also:
- pick the coordinator’s model — the default is a cheap, fast router
- turn the ”↳ Routing to Menu Strategist…” announcement on or off
- enable or disable any specialist except the Generalist
- give each its own model — a creative one for the Marketing Voice, a structured one for the Strategist
Changes are live from the next turn; in-flight answers finish on the model they started.
Good to know
- Two specialists can answer one question together — the coordinator fans out and weaves the replies into one answer, not two.
- The routing line is informational. Its job is to explain why the tone shifts between turns.
- Each specialist has a tighter tool list than the Generalist, shown under its card. Read-only ones genuinely can’t write.
- It answers in whatever language you wrote in.
