Why your photos came back the wrong colour

You sent up a plate shot and it came back cold and blue, or orange, or flatter than you wanted. Nothing is broken — the Look you chose decides the colour, and some looks are cool or moody on purpose.

The rule

The Look is the colour control. There is no warmth or white-balance slider — changing the look is how you change the light.

How it works

  1. Open Photo studio and check which card is selected in the Look row. A style you starred sits at the front, so it is easy to pick without noticing.
  2. Read what the look is meant to do. Cocktail Bar Mood is low light and cool rim light. Wine on Linen is soft daylight. Both come back cooler than a kitchen shot — that is the style, not a fault. Warm Trattoria goes the other way, amber and candlelit.
  3. For a neutral menu photo, pick Studio Plate and make the picture again. It is the safe default: bright, top-down, neutral plate.
  4. If none of the standard looks suit your room, open Dani from Want a look of your own? and describe what you want — “warmer, like our candlelight”. Confirm it once and it sits in the Look row with a Yours badge.

Good to know

  • It restyles what you sent. Strong coloured light in the room — a blue LED strip, a painted wall bouncing colour onto the plate — carries into the result, because the studio changes the lighting rather than repainting the food.
  • Every attempt is kept in your Gallery, so trying a second look never loses the first.
  • Each new picture costs credits, so switch the look before you re-run rather than re-running the same one.
  • If the same look gives you a different colour than it used to, tell us — that one is worth a ticket.
