Google reviews — what your competitors' customers actually say
Instagram tells you what a competitor says about themselves. Google reviews tell you what their customers say back.
The rule
Reviews are slow signal — they trickle in over weeks. Linking is one-time, the refresh is weekly. You don’t need to babysit it.
Linking a listing
- On their card, click Link Google.
- Open their listing in Google Maps, copy the URL from the address bar, paste it in.
- Save & fetch reviews. A green chip —
4.6 · 287 reviews— is your sign it worked.
Short maps.app.goo.gl links work too. If one gets stuck, re-copy the address-bar URL and re-link.
What you get
Click View detail for three sections:
- Combined analysis — the strategic read, fusing their Instagram and their reviews. A headline like “Strong product, weak service — copy their hashtag rhythm, differentiate on speed”, then what to copy and where to differentiate. This is the one you act on.
- Instagram — their posts, followers and trend.
- Google reviews — rating, reply rate, a trend chart, and the AI read of praises and complaints. With enough history it adds how it’s changed over time, so you see “service complaints rising since March” rather than a flat average.
What’s stored, and what isn’t
We keep a short summary of each competitor review — the gist, rating, date and any owner reply — readable in your language whatever the original was. Your own reviews are kept in full so you can reply properly.
We deliberately don’t store reviewer names. The Local Guide badge stays, since it’s about how much a review weighs, not who wrote it.
Good to know
- Refresh reviews pulls only what’s new. Analyze re-runs the read; Rebuild re-fuses the combined card. Analysis depth sets how many reviews the AI reads — 50, 100 or 200.
- The AI reads are never generated in the background or shared from another venue. Nina writes them for you, when you ask.
- Set a second language under Settings → Languages and each review gains a Translate button, paid once per review per language.
