Fixing a wrong link

Ingredient lists drift. Two people type the same thing under two names. A recipe makes a new row when an old row was already right. Both are fixable.

The rule

The recipe owns what it makes, so you change that on the recipe. A row owns its own name, so you join rows on the row. Nothing is deleted and the history stays.

How it works

Re-point — the recipe is fine but it makes the wrong row.

  1. Open the recipe and find the Output item field.
  2. Pick the row you want it to make instead.
  3. Save. From now on that recipe feeds that row. Two sauces that end up in the same pot can now share one row.

Merge — two rows are the same thing.

  1. Open the row you want to keep. Press Merge.
  2. Pick the row to absorb.
  3. Confirm. Every recipe, every supplier product and every menu link moves to the row you keep. The other row is archived with a note pointing at the survivor.

Good to know

  • Use re-point when only the recipe link is wrong. Use merge when both rows are real duplicates.
  • Merge moves everything in one go. You do not have to fix the recipes yourself.
  • The archived row keeps its history. Nothing is thrown away.
  • After a re-point, the leftover row can be archived from its own page if nothing else uses it.
