When the chat knows your allergies
A guest with a BiteTheMenu account can save their allergies and diet once, then choose — venue by venue — whether that venue’s website assistant may see them. When they do, the chat can say which dishes work for them without being asked twice.
The rule: off everywhere until the guest turns it on, and they turn it on for one venue at a time.
How it works
- The guest signs in on your website and opens Account.
- They save their allergies and diet under their profile.
- Just below, a switch appears: Let their assistant see my allergies, naming your venue.
- From then on, when they chat on your site, the assistant knows their allergies, their diet and their first name.
- It leads with dishes that fit, and says plainly which ones do not.
Good to know
- It is off by default and stays off for every other venue until the guest turns it on there too.
- The assistant never sees their email, their phone, their address or what they have ordered.
- It still cannot clear a dish for an allergy. It says what your menu lists and still ends with the line asking them to check with your staff — knowing someone’s allergy does not let it speak for your kitchen.
- The guest can switch it off at any time, and the assistant stops seeing it on the next message.
- Guests who are not signed in are unaffected. The chat works exactly as it always has for them.
- You cannot turn this on for a guest, and neither can we. Only they can.
