When a price changes, your margins change
Your supplier sends a new price. You put it in. Every item that uses that ingredient now shows a new margin. You do not open a single recipe.
The rule: you change the price in one place. The app changes everything above it.
How it works
- A new price arrives. You upload the price list in Suppliers, or you type the new price on the ingredient.
- The app writes the new cost on that ingredient.
- If the ingredient splits into parts, each part takes its share. A whole egg gets dearer, so the yolk and the white get dearer.
- Every recipe that uses any of those is costed again. Then every recipe that uses those recipes.
- Open Food Margins or Beverage Margins. The new numbers are there.
This takes a few seconds. Nothing to press.
Good to know
- It works the same for a whole price list and for one price you type by hand.
- A goods receipt at a new price does it too.
- Only your main supplier for an ingredient sets its cost. A second supplier’s price list does not change it.
- Once a night the app checks every recipe again. This is a safety net. You should never see it change anything.
- You do not need stock levels for any of this. Cost is enough.
