Image editor — crop, recolour and annotate before you post

The first image is usually 80% right — the crop’s a touch tight, the shadows swallow the basil. Regenerating is a sledgehammer for that.

The rule

Edit replaces. Regenerate restarts. Use Edit when the photo is almost right; use Regenerate when it’s wrong. Edit costs nothing, because the AI work is already paid for.

How it works

Hover the image in the Composer preview and click the Edit pill in the bottom-right. The editor opens full-screen with four tabs.

  • Adjust — crop to any ratio (Square, Portrait 4:5, Story 9:16, Landscape 16:9), rotate, flip. For a tilted plate or an off-centre dish.
  • Finetune — brightness, contrast, saturation, exposure. The common move is brightness down 10, contrast up 15 for a moody night look.
  • Filters — one-click presets. They stack with Finetune, so pick a look then push the sliders.
  • Annotate — text, shapes, arrows, freehand, stickers. Mostly used for a bold line across a 9:16 story so viewers know what they’re seeing without sound.

Hit Save. The new picture replaces the old one on your draft; the caption, hashtags and alt-text are untouched.

Good to know

  • The undo arrow at the top reverses any single change while you’re in the editor.
  • Edits don’t undo across sessions. Once saved, they’re baked into the image.
  • Cancel backs out without saving anything.
  • Cropping doesn’t change which aspect ratio slot you’re in. If you want to work on a different ratio, switch the aspect tab in the Composer first, then open the editor.
  • It won’t write you a new caption — captions belong to the post, not the picture.
