TikTok — the channel that hides nothing
Instagram tells you how many people liked a post. TikTok tells you how many watched it. That makes it the most honest channel you can track.
The rule
Follow the view count, not the like count. A video with two million views and an unremarkable like count still means the idea landed — and on Instagram you’d never have seen it.
Adding one
On Growth → Competitors, use the TikTok handle tab on the add card: paste their @username or profile link, pick how many videos to pull first time, Add via TikTok. A card appears in under a minute.
Already tracking them elsewhere? Open their detail page, go to the TikTok tab, paste the username there.
What you get
The TikTok tab on a competitor shows their followers, total likes and video count, then:
- The TikTok read — how often they post, which formats they lean on (tutorials, close-ups, owner-on-camera, trend reactions), which sounds they reuse, and what’s reaching furthest.
- Their videos, each with its view count, plus a Top videos by views list.
- Two charts — when they post through the week, and how views and followers have moved. The follower line gains a point on every refresh.
Their TikTok also folds into the combined read alongside Instagram and Google, and into your venue-wide strategy — so the advice quotes real videos with real numbers.
Your own TikTok
Add your @username under Settings → Venue profile and a TikTok tab appears on Growth → Analytics, next to Instagram and Google — your followers, likes, video count, and a read of how you’re doing against the competitors you track. It switches on once Instagram is connected, same as Facebook.
Good to know
- Refresh from TikTok pulls new videos; Run analysis re-reads what’s already captured. Worth running after they post something that clearly took off.
- The weekly refresh handles the rest. A failure — private account, wrong username — shows an amber note and retries next week. One bad account never blocks the others.
- The three fields under Settings → AI → Competitor analysis shape this read too. See tuning competitor analysis.
