Jobs, and who's ready

A waiter and a line cook need completely different training. Set out your jobs, put the courses each one needs behind it, and the board tells you who is ready for which section tonight.

The rule

Ready is not a box that stays ticked. Someone is ready while they still hold what the job needs — and that can slip.

How it works

  1. Open Jobs and add the jobs you actually have — waiter, runner, bar, kitchen. Or press Start from a common list and edit it.
  2. Under each job, Add a course for everything someone must know before they can do it. Mark anything that is nice to have as Extra — extras get studied, but they don’t decide who’s ready.
  3. Give people their jobs from Who’s ready, under Not on a job yet. The courses come with the job — you don’t assign them one by one.
  4. Who’s ready then shows each person as ready, slipping, or not yet, soonest to expire first.

Changed a job later? Press Apply to everyone on this job and anyone already on it picks up the new courses.

Good to know

  • A short version of this board sits on your home screen under Your team, so you see it without coming here.

  • Slipping and not yet are different problems. Slipping means they learned it and it’s fading — one session fixes it. Not yet means material they’ve never seen.

  • “6 weeks left” is when they’d stop being ready if nobody studied again. It isn’t a deadline you set.

  • Someone can hold more than one job — a runner on Fridays and bar on Sundays gets both sets.

  • Older courses show under Curriculum as Not sorted yet. Nothing is lost; give them a kind when you get to it.

  • You can ask the Telegram assistant “who is ready for the bar tonight” and get the same counts on your phone. Switch Who is ready to work on under What it may do. See Telegram.

The quick check

A ten-year sommelier shouldn’t sit through eight wine lessons. The first time the bot offers a course, it offers a check instead: ten questions from across the whole thing. Get nearly all right and the lessons are skipped — the questions still come back later, same as everyone’s. Get a few wrong and only those you got right are marked off.
